Chat is the direct line to your agent. Ask questions, hand over tasks, or describe recurring work; the same conversation handles all three.

Starting and steering

Start from the Home composer or New chat in the sidebar. While the agent works, you’ll see its steps as it takes them, and you can press Stop at any point to halt a reply mid-stream. If a reply fails or gets cut off, retry it in place.
  • Attachments. Add up to four files to a message and the agent works with their contents
  • Follow-ups. After a reply, the agent suggests likely next asks as one-tap pills
  • Copy. Every reply can be copied out with one click
  • Search. The command menu at the top of the sidebar jumps to any chat or screen

When the agent needs an app

Agents only act in apps you’ve authorised. If a task needs one it doesn’t have, the agent asks in the chat with an approval card; see Approving tool access.

When the agent is busy

An agent works one job at a time. If an Agent Automation is mid-run when you message, the chat says so and offers Cancel run to take the agent back. Cancelling records the run as cancelled in Agent history, so nothing disappears.

Prompts that work

Brief your agent the way you’d brief a person: the goal, the constraints, and where the answer should go.
That last one becomes an Agent Automation, and the chat is exactly where to say it.
