Three controls cover the life of an Agent Automation between edits: pause it, resume it, and fire it on demand.

Pause and resume

Pause is the off switch. A paused Agent Automation fires no triggers and spends no credits until you resume it, and its record in Agent history stays intact. Pause and resume live on each row’s menu on the Agent Automations screen, and the Paused tab keeps them all in view so nothing gets lost. Worth repeating, because it surprises people: archiving an agent does not stop its Agent Automations. Archiving is shelving; the work keeps running and keeps spending. When the goal is “make it stop”, pause the Agent Automation.

Run now

Every Agent Automation can be fired manually, whatever its schedules say. Use it to test a new brief before its first scheduled firing, or to get this week’s summary today. A manual run is a normal run: it appears in Agent history and produces a run chat like any other. An agent works one job at a time, so if it’s already mid-run, a manual firing is recorded as skipped rather than queued behind it.

Cancelling a run in progress

A running job can be stopped from its chat with Cancel run, which records the run as cancelled and frees the agent immediately. Cancelling one run doesn’t pause the Agent Automation; the next trigger fires as scheduled.

Deleting

Deleting an Agent Automation removes it and its triggers for good. If there’s any chance you’ll want it back, pause instead; paused costs nothing.
